After graduating from St Martin’s College of Art and Design in London Rachel quickly began to establish herself, first going onto work with several prestigious brands including world-renowned Rock ‘n’ Roll Jeweller Stephen Webster, Boodles and Links of London.

Honing her craft further before taking the leap into business herself, Rachel launched her own business with a studio based in the heart of London’s Jewellery district Hatton Garden.

Winner of Coutts London Jewellery weeks ‘New Designer award’, and finalist in the 2008 UK Retail Jeweller Awards Rachel’s jewellery has won countless accolades. More recently Rachel was highly commended by The British Jeweller’s Association in the Precious Metal Cuff Category for her striking Enkai Cuff.

Rachel’s designs have attracted the attention of top models Daisy Lowe, Tolula Adeyemi and pop favourite Lily Allen as well as acclaimed actress Juliet Lewis amongst others.

Rachel has also collaborated with Royal Milliner Philip Treacy on a shoot for the Princes Trust Charity and her pieces are now regularly seen on the red carpet, in magazines such as Elle, Marie Claire and Tatler. Her designs are currently being worn by a whole host of the next generation of trendsetters and 2012 is set to be a big year for Rachel Galley with big brand and fashion luminary collaborations which will see Rachel further establish herself as one of the most important players and ones to watch in the international jewellery market.

Here at Phillip Stoner we are always looking to offer something unique, and with our range of Steven Kretchmer rings available at our Manchester store we have found something truly special and pioneering.

Steven Kretchmer has often been referred to as the most innovative designer to ever hit the jewellery scene.  Steven’s signature Tension-Set^TMjewellery and magnetic Polarium^TM platinum jewellery have revolutionized fine jewellery design.

Steven began making jewellery in 1969, although the Kretchmer bloodline can be traced back several generations to jewellers of Romanian royalty. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Rhode Island School of Design and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Michigan.  Steven had worked at prestigious jewellery firms in New York (Harry Winston) and Milan (Faraone).  In 1991, after years of work and dedication, Steven Kretchmer Design, Inc. was founded in Los Angeles, California.

During his career, Steven had received numerous awards for his continual success in extending the boundaries of fine jewellery design.  He had also been granted a number of patents for precious metal product inventions and alloys, including multicolored layered golds, tension settings, and Polarium^TM, a permanently magnetic platinum alloy developed for a line of fine jewelry that exhibits amazing behaviors, including levitation.  Steven Kretchmer was listed in JCK magazine as one of 10 collectible designers most mentioned by a panel of top professionals in fine jewelry including Sotheby’s and Christie’s of New York. The panel named Steven as “a superlative jeweller whose awards for excellence, ground breaking designs, and fearless risk-taking set the present-day standard for fine jewelry design.”  Steven’s continual development and use of unique precious metals, displayed in ageless designs with diamonds and gems, added new dimensions to the fine art of jewelry.

The legacy renews at Steven Kretchmer, now run by his stepdaughter Claudia. When both Steven and his wife Alma died within one year, Claudia left her PhD studies in Astrophysics to continue the company her parents built. Along with her industry experience, she’s been a regular at trade shows since she was 13, the interest and aesthetic she learned from and shared with Steven make her a natural for the role.  A female perspective and a creative use of her scientific background brings the signature Kretchmer look a feminine touch that has already earned Claudia numerous design awards.

The NSPCC is a charity extremely close to our hearts and it is for the 10

The event aims to raise funds and awareness for abused and vulnerable children and this year saw guest speaker Jenni Murray (of Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour and Newsnight) give an extremely entertaining and inspirational speech for this worthy event. 

For the main prize we donated a 0.50ct D colour diamond set into an 18ct white gold pendant which was part of our exclusive Lila collection. We felt a piece from our Lila range was most appropriate as the collection was inspired by the love for a child.

The winner of the diamond pendant this year was Danielle Hurst(Pictured left) from Leeds, who was absolutely thrilled to have won. It was also lovely to meet last year’s winner again who was still wearing her pendant and came over to tell us how much she loved it.

Finally to honour the contributions made by Phillip Stoner the Jeweller for the last 10 years, Jonathan Stoner was presented with a special award for Outstanding Contribution to the NSPCC, (Pictured first with Gill Warwick the Community Fundraising Manager of Leeds and York area) it was a wonderful surprise and made us all very proud!
