Phillip Stoner was pleased to donate a £5,000 diamond prize to help raise funds at the prestigious Firecracker Ball 2012, which took place last week in Harrogate. We, alongside other local businesses, were thrilled to pledge support for the event, which raises funds for Barnardo’s causes in Yorkshire.
Managing Director, Jonathan Stoner said, “We are delighted to be able to support the Firecracker Ball, which is a very worthy fundraiser for young people in need. We have donated a half carat GIA Certified Diamond, D colour [the very highest colour grade available] of VS1 Clarity. This will be set into a bespoke jewellery piece, designed by us and produced by our craftsman within our workshop, to the lucky winner’s specification.”
Phillip Stoner also donated gift vouchers of £250 and £100 for two runners up in the £20 prize draw game.
Phil Taylor, Chairman of the Firecracker Ball Committee said on the evening, “This is an incredible and very generous donation from Phillip Stoner, for which we are extremely grateful. I can imagine most ladies will want to find that lucky ticket…I’ll certainly be buying a few for my wife!”
The 2012 Firecracker Ball, took place at Rudding Park on the 10th November, and was a sell out with nearly 750 guests attending. The ‘Roaring 20s’ themed event proved a night to remember with entertainment from soul sensation Beverley Knight.
The event has become the most significant event in the Yorkshire social calendar, helping to change the lives of thousands of children and young people across Yorkshire. Since 2002 the ball has raised more than £1.1million for Barnardo’s causes, and this year’s event saw them raise a further £200,000 – a huge achievement!
This year The Firecracker Ball has raised funds to support family support services in Yorkshire, such as The Priory Family Centre, where family support is offered through a Drop In Group, Baby Group and Parenting Programmes. The Priory also provides support for some families with significant needs. A Short Breaks Holiday Club provides holiday activities for 8-18 year olds with complex health needs including physical disabilities, life limiting conditions and learning disabilities. The Priory Siblings Group provides support services to young people whose sibling has a disability or a life limiting illness.
